St James' War Memorial
If you click on this photograph you will be able to see the intricate work that has recently been completed to restore this wonderful War Memorial. It was constructed as a mosaic using more than 3,000 pieces of coloured glass. It is a tribute to those who gave their lives in the two World Wars and depicts the sinking of the Lusitania. The memorial is an impressive six feet by four feet wall mounted tribute and the congregation of St James' have campaigned for ten years to raise enough money for the restoration. Eventually the £20,000 needed was raised and the monument which is one of only three such memorials in England was conserved for future generations.
